Welcome!

My name is Lola Blue Douglas and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Sexual Diversity Studies, with a research focus on gender and neurodiversity. My practice is informed by academic and clinical training alongside years of experience in healthcare settings, and additional specialized training in trauma-informed therapy, complex trauma presentations, ASD and ADHD.

I work with folks navigating a wide range of challenges, but my deepest passion lies in supporting individuals and couples through the impacts of trauma—especially complex trauma, relational wounds, and unresolved traumatic stress. You don’t need to identify your experiences as “trauma” to find a meaningful fit here, however. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck, burnt out, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves or others, or trapped in patterns they can’t quite name or break.

Trauma can show up in so many ways: dissociation, suicidality, emotional dysregulation, chronic shame, relationship ruptures, attachment anxiety, conflict, and can be a significant contributor to the development of many conditions such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. Trauma’s impacts often reflect survival strategies from unsafe or invalidating pasts. Together, we can honour their role and gently explore what still serves you—and what you might be ready to shift or challenge.

I welcome all clients, and particularly love working with other 2SLGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and/or disabled folks. As someone who shares identities in these communities, I understand the weight of navigating a healthcare system that isn't always designed for us—and I offer neurodivergent-affirming care that honours your unique needs, communication styles, and ways of being.

I'm also deeply committed to making OCD support more affordable and accessible. I run low-cost OCD groups for adults and offer individual therapy that integrates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) within a trauma-informed, collaborative, and affirming framework.

I believe therapy offers us a rare opportunity to embrace vulnerability, honesty, bravery, change, and introspection - values I hold throughout our work together. It means a great deal to me to be trusted with the tender, complicated, and often painful parts of people’s stories, and I hold a deep commitment to supporting people in building valuable coping resources and cultivating greater empowerment in their lives. I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where we can foster alignment with your values, needs, and goals; exploring your story at a pace that feels right for you.

As a queer, disabled, and neurodivergent therapist, I approach my work through an anti-oppressive, integrative, relational, and trauma-informed lens. I am committed to principles of anti-oppressive practice, meaning that I do my best to work from an intersectional, harm-reduction, disability justice focused, anti-diet culture and Health At Every Size, anti-racist, sex-positive, kink-positive, poly-positive, and body-affirmative lens.
